* Data from the Massachusetts Department of Correction (DOC) shows that from 2010-2018, participants in Jericho Circle at MCI-Norfolk who were subsequently released from prison had a 44% lower rate of new crimes committed within the first three years after their release vs. the state average (non-technical 3-year recidivism). Importantly, during this time Jericho Circle operated as an all-volunteer organization with a minimal budget and no Reentry programming, due to (at the time) DOC prohibitions on volunteer contact with Returning Citizens.

TESTIMONIALS

  • “Jericho Circle saved a lot of lives inside, including mine. It was, and is, the catalyst of change in my life. I was able to breathe again after my first intensive weekend, and recovered a piece of myself that had been lost for a long time.”

    Returning Citizen

  • “For me, Jericho has helped in so many ways, especially in my transition back into society.  Having a group that understood where I was for the last 22 years and was willing to help me vocalize not only my new problems but old ones has been a big help in my life.”

    Fernando “Fez” Cortez
    Returning Citizen

  • “Sitting in circle with men in prison has been the most humanizing experience of my life, and has helped me overcome my own traumas while witnessing and supporting others through theirs. I am more fully human, more fully a man and more self-accepting and empathic towards others because of my experience in Jericho Circle. This program is a life-saver, and more than that a life-builder for both men inside and volunteers.”

  • “I have witnessed the healing power of the work that takes place in Jericho Circle and wish it was available to inmates everywhere. Many incarcerated men have extensive trauma histories and emotional wounds that drive extreme reactions and behaviors. They deserve an opportunity for deep healing and restoration that can transform their lives and Jericho Circle offers that opportunity. This work is very important!”
